Meditation on the word and Abiding in Christ

This morning when reading Proverbs 4 i got awakened to what it means to stay in meditation on the word of God and abiding in Christ in thoughts, words and actions:

Proverbs 4:18-23
New International Version (NIV)

18
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,
shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
19
But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know what makes them stumble.

20
My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
21
Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart;
22
for they are life to those who find them
and health to one’s whole body.
23
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

Notice the deliberate and careful choice of the words: pay attention, turn your eyes to, keep them within your heart, guard your heart....... It is work and effort through God's grace. A willing heart that takes the initiative to study God's word, reflect on it, keep and obey it shall abide in Christ. So help me Holy Spirit. Amen ‪#‎TodaysDevotion‬

  1. Psalms 19:7-11

    7
    The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
    The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
    8
    The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
    The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.
    9
    The fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever.
    The decrees of the Lord are firm,
    and all of them are righteous.

    10
    They are more precious than gold,
    than much pure gold;
    they are sweeter than honey,
    than honey from the honeycomb.
    11
    By them your servant is warned;
    in keeping them there is great reward.
