FACING BEYOND MOUNT KENYA
The Agikuyu traditional religion and its accompanying rituals promise God’s favor and a blessed life to people through periodic strange sacrifices, appeasing of the spirits of the dead, and the worship of a tribal god. It contradicts the Holy Scriptures in the fundamental doctrines of God and his purpose for humanity. It craftily creates access to God that is strange to the one way revealed in the Scriptures. Interestingly, this way and form of worship is exclusive to just the Agikuyu community, locking out all the communities in the world. And all this is built upon an unbiblical belief concerning the origin of the tribe.
The beliefs, traditions and rituals of the Agikuyu religion fail miserably under the scrutiny of God’s true revelation in the Holy Scriptures and in Christ Jesus. And hopefully, you shall see all this from God’s word and happily let your heart settle on the only place and truth that can give your soul eternal life and fulfilment: In Christ Jesus.
Just like it was in the times of Prophet Elijah’s controversy with the Baal worship, we are in our own Mt. Carmel decision point as believers from the Agikuyu community. We must decide now which God we shall serve. We cannot continue being torn between two opinions. If there is a god in Kirinyaga (Mount Kenya), let’s worship him. But if the true God is in heaven and has revealed Himself through His son Jesus Christ, let’s devote ourselves to Him. And only Him!
